📚 Last 24 hours—help a child keep reading this summer.

As the school year ends, many kids have fewer opportunities to read. Without regular access to books, skills can slip, and the “summer slide” can widen the gap.

Today is your chance to make a difference.

With Cal Raleigh and Communities in Schools, we’re putting books into the hands of local K–5 students—but time is almost up.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Prevention Day with PEMCO, the Girl Scouts of Western Washington, and the Seattle Mariners! ⚾️

We believe a little prevention goes a long way. That’s why we partner with local organizations to help empower families—especially youth—with simple, practical ways to prevent and prepare for everyday risks here in the PNW.

It was incredible spending the day with Girl Scouts and families, learning these tips together—and having plenty of fun along the way.

Huge thanks to our volunteers and partners for bringing this “Cover Your Bases” day to life. 💙

Wildfire risk isn’t limited to one type of community. It can affect all types of areas across the Northwest.

Wildfire readiness starts with three simple steps: Plan. Prepare. Prevent.

Here are a few things you can do to reduce risk:
✅ Keep the first 5 feet around your home clear
✅ Store firewood and flammables at least 30 feet away
✅ Trim branches and clear dry brush
✅ Properly dispose of ci******es, avoid parking on dry grass, and follow burn restrictions

Small steps can make a big difference, and when neighbors take action together, prevention goes even further.

📚 Help local kids stay confident readers this summer. As the school year ends, many kids lose easy access to books. Without it, skills can fade, and the “summer slide” can widen the gap.

There’s still time to step in. With Cal Raleigh and Communities in Schools, we’re getting books directly to local elementary students—but the drive is almost over.

Memorial Day weekend marks the start of the “100 Deadliest Days” for teen drivers—the stretch through Labor Day when crash risk is at its highest.

Encourage your young driver to adopt these habits. They can make a real difference.

✅ Limit passengers
✅ Phones out of reach
✅ Seatbelts every trip, every seat
✅ Have a backup ride plan

Prevention starts with the expectations you set.

📚 Our book drive is live—help kids keep reading this summer. When school’s out, access to books can be limited—especially for children from lower-income families. Without regular reading, skills can slip, widening the reading gap. That’s why we’re partnering with Cal Raleigh and Communities in Schools to put books into the hands of local K–5 students before summer begins.

Wildfires are a growing reality across the Pacific Northwest; not just in remote forests, but in neighborhoods and along everyday routes we travel. The good news: reducing your risk doesn’t have to be complicated. Some of the most effective steps are straightforward and within reach.

This year, our updated wildfire guidance focuses on three clear actions: Plan, Prepare, and Prevent. Small steps you can take now, before wildfire season ramps up and when conditions change quickly.

Fire safety matters year-round. With wildfire season in the Pacific Northwest growing longer and more severe every year, it’s important to stay vigilant even beyond the summer months.

We’re proud to team up with Cal Raleigh — a partnership rooted in shared values and a love for the Pacific Northwest.

We believe we’re stronger together, and we’re excited to work as a team to make a positive impact in our communities. 💙 ⚾ ️
