I was a senior in high school and was told by my counselor not to waste my money on applying for college because I would never get in.
So I didn’t, and only lasted a little while in community college.

While I’m no professor, to be asked a second time to speak at Cal Poly’s School of Business to Finance majors about the mortgage industry was the best full circle moment that mentally beat down 17 year old girl could ever have!

Some parts of the mortgage process feel exciting—getting pre-approved, house hunting, imagining what life will look like in a new home.

And then there are the other moments.

The rate ride.
The back-and-forth.
The unexpected requests.
The waiting.

The “is this normal?” texts. The “I’m stressed” calls. The moments where it all feels a little overwhelming.

That’s the part people don’t always talk about.

Because while buying a home is a huge milestone, the process to get there can feel heavy at times. Emotions run high. Questions come up. Doubt can creep in.

And then… I get messages like these.

Messages that say, “Thank you for explaining everything so clearly.”
Messages that say, “I couldn’t have done this without you.”
Messages that say, “You made this so much easier than I expected.”

That’s why I do this.

Not just to help people get into homes—but to guide them through the moments when it feels uncertain, and make sure they never feel like they’re doing it alone.
