Why I Serve Wednesday is back in action!
Meet Nate Barhorst, our board secretary and learn why being a part of United Way is so important to him.
Who inspired you or encouraged you to join the United Way board?
~I was encouraged to join the board by several community and business leaders. Their passion for the organization made it clear that the Shelby County United Way plays a vital role in our local communities and that it would be a honor to serve.
What is your favorite part of being on the United Way board?
~I enjoy the opportunity to connect with different people and build relationships. United Way has given me the opportunity to work with their staff, board members, and agency leaders, all coming together to help our local communities.
When did you first become involved with United Way or join the board?
~I participated in the allocations meetings in 2021 and joined the board in 2022
Where are you from? Or Where do you like to spend your free time?
~I live in Fort Loramie. I enjoy spending time with my family and helping lead my children through their favorite activities and sports teams.
Why did you choose to serve on this board?
~Serving on the United Way Board has allowed me to better understand our community’s needs and support organizations that are making a real difference. Our board is entrusted with a significant amount of donation dollars and we play an important role in ensuring those resources are directed where they can have the greatest impact.
