If you had the chance to invest in a broad range of strong businesses in the past, most would seize it without hesitation.

But looking ahead, the landscape feels different. It always does.

More uncertain. Less predictable. Maybe even scarier.

Morgan Housel captures this perfectly:

"All past declines look like an opportunity; all future declines look like a risk."

This highlights why it’s better to view your portfolio as a collection of businesses—not just a group of stocks.

Stocks may fluctuate, but businesses persist, adapt, and grow over time.

I’m a betting man and I’m betting that this pattern will hold true for the foreseeable future.

It’s human nature to chase the shiny object. I get a lot of questions about these, and here’s my take.

Gold, commodities, cryptocurrencies…

They all share one key characteristic:

They don’t produce anything.

No cash flow. No dividends. No profits.

Which means there’s no fundamental anchor for valuation, and that isn’t ideal.

You’re relying on what someone else will pay, and that may not be what you want.

You're hoping that someone else will pay more than you paid, as it is the only way to experience a profitable trade.

That’s a very different game from owning a collection of businesses that do generate cash flows, dividends, and profits.
