Fraud affects everyone. If you are not sure of the source of the call, email, or text don’t engage. Call your agent, your insurance company, or provider directly to respond. Then you can be sure you have the correct person or company.
National Senior Fraud Awareness Day is coming up on May 15, and our team at Eagle Group Agency wants to make sure our Oklahoma seniors and families stay protected. Online and phone scams are getting more sophisticated, especially those targeting Medicare beneficiaries.
Here are some of the most common scams we’re seeing in Oklahoma right now:
• Tech support scams – Scammers pretend to be tech support and claim your device has an issue. Their goal is remote access or payment for a fake fix.
• Government or Medicare impersonation – If someone claims to be from Medicare or Social Security and asks for personal information, hang up. Real agencies will not ask for sensitive details through unsolicited calls, texts, or emails.
• Family imposter scams – These scammers pose as a loved one and create a sense of urgency to get you to send money.
• Sweepstakes or prize scams – If you’re told you’ve won something but need to pay a fee to receive your prize, it’s a scam.
• Romance or investment scams – Fraudsters build trust online, then push for money or financial access.
We’re committed to helping our community stay informed and protected. If you ever have questions about Medicare help in Oklahoma or need guidance navigating your coverage, our local team is always here for you.
