One of the greatest things about being alive today is Americans on whole are living way longer than they ever have historically. This often means more time to enjoy life, more time to enjoy your children, grand-children, and even great-grandchildren, and more time to enjoy your spouse. This increased longevity also comes with new challenges to include a retirement that may not be 5-10 years but one that could be decades. America’s older population is expected to expand in the coming years. That will change how we work, save and live.

What am absolutely great week at EntreLeadership Summit 2026. There are so many great nuggets of wisdom from the many great speakers and attendees that we will bring back to our business owner clients, but I thought it fitting just to provide a small taste of some of the highlights:

Dave Ramsey (Founder & Chairman of Ramsey Solutions):
"I'm telling you, man, this whole war on success thing has got to stop, y'all. It's got to stop, because it's training the next generation wrong. They start to feel guilty if they win by serving others, and we need to inform them: wealth is not evil, success is not evil. This is the way it's supposed to be. Capitalism is the best chance for the little man to get ahead in the history of humankind."

Dave on Liquidity:
“2008 hit and we stole some real estate, it was like a bank robbery, it was awesome and so we got a big portfolio, we bought stuff for 10 cents on the dollar, it was amazing. We had a great time”

Dave on Succession Planning:
“When I was 48 I remember exactly what happed I just woke up and went I am going to die some day and all the people who work here are screwed because we don't have a plan because I am the only revenue producer I am the tip of the spear on the whole stinkin thing, operationally and as a revenue producer…I started studying family businesses and ministry churches which had generationally handed off successfully.”

Moderator to Dave Ramsey as you started to relinquish this to the 2nd generation how did that go. "We worked on this for so long. We started when I was 48 and I am 65 so we did a very gradual process so there was no…you don’t get whiplash from that you don’t get oh, where did that come from but what as we studied other families that have done succession well gradual is one of the things we learned. The more gradual the higher probability of success. You can course correct whatever you are making in the process, or repeat it you need to. The thing that none of the people told us is when the succession plan works you have planned to be less important and you shouldn’t be shocked when your less important. It is a pain in the butt emotionally to say “I am planning on the end of me being important and it works”"

Daniel Ramsey (CEO of Ramsey Solutions): “have some things you can do, things you take pride in that isn’t just the business…don’t just have your identity solely in the business”

Although not a perfect article, it is a really good start. So for all the people reading this, especially young people, who are not yet our clients and not set up on a Financial Plan just for them, this article has a lot of wisdom and is a really good starting point. Enjoy.
