This has happened to me a couple of times over the years credit card stolen or compromised while traveling also at the pump in Ft Walton Beach, even now traveling and if you fill up at a truck station there is a real chance that your debit card will authorize for $175 or more, and you won't get that money back for a few days. PRO tip don't ever use your Debit card at the gas pump. Credit Card use only! It will save you money and cause less aggravation if your card is compromised. Most banks have a limit usually $500 reimbursement fee on debit card stolen transactions anything over that amount that was charged you will have to fight to get that back from your bank.
