Aflac began 2024 deepening its 30-year commitment to advancing pediatric cancer and sickle cell research with a $1.5 million donation to The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Of this, $1 million is designated for advancing clinical research and $500,000 will address crucial needs at Children's Hughes Spalding Sickle Cell Clinic, benefiting over 2,600 children annually. Staying true to our promise to be there for people when they need us the most, this impactful contribution will benefit young patients from across the U.S.

March was Child Life Month, and we recognize the crucial role Child Life Specialists play in promoting the well-being and resilience of children and families facing medical challenges.

Child Life Specialists work with children and families in health care settings to help them cope with the stress and challenges of illness, injury, and hospitalization. They focus on supporting the emotional, developmental, and psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families, helping to create a more positive and supportive health care experience.

My Special Aflac Duck® provides comfort to children when they need it most.

Data from a recently released study of 160 children, as well as their parents and providers, conducted at eight U.S. hospitals that treat pediatric cancer, found that the robotic companion can help reduce procedural and treatment anxiety among pediatric patients being treated for cancer.

The results of the 3-year study were reported at the 2024 American Society of Pediatric Hematology Oncology (ASPHO) annual meeting in Seattle.

We look forward to sharing the scientific abstract when it is published in the peer-reviewed journal Pediatric Blood & Cancer.
