🚜 Share The Road During Harvest🌽
As the leaves begin to turn and crisp air rolls in, autumn is officially around the corner!
For our local agricultural community, this seasonal shift marks the start of the busiest time of year: Harvest Season. Our hard-working farmers are heading into the fields to gather the crops that feed our communities.
With harvest underway, you'll be seeing more large farm equipment moving between fields on local roads. Let’s do our part to keep everyone safe this fall!
Road Safety Reminders for Harvest Season:
- Slow Down: Farm machinery often travels between 15–25 mph. A vehicle traveling at 55 mph can close a 300-foot gap behind a slow tractor in just 5 seconds.
- Be Patient: Farmers often pull off to allow traffic to pass when it is safe to do so. Give them space and time.
- Watch for Blinders & Signals: Tractors make wide, sweeping turns. Wait to see where they are heading before attempting to pass, and never pass on a solid yellow line or in a blind curve.
- Give Extra Room: Give large equipment extra clearance at intersections and narrow country roads.
