Mortgage Rates are starting the week in a state of flux as ongoing negotiations with Iran continue to drag on, while renewed military strikes between Iran and Israel over the weekend have added more uncertainty to the markets.

As headlines continue to break, expect Mortgage Rates to move up and down throughout the week. We are unlikely to see a consistent move lower in rates until a deal is reached and the Strait of Hormuz is fully reopened. Recent tensions have pushed oil prices higher and increased volatility in the bond market, both of which can impact mortgage pricing. (Reuters)

Mortgage Rates are opening the week a bit higher as global headlines continue to create uncertainty in the financial markets.

Reports this morning that Iran may pull out of negotiations and potentially block the Strait of Hormuz caused an immediate reaction in the bond market. Since Mortgage Rates are closely tied to bond performance, rates moved higher as investors responded to the news.

For now, Mortgage Rates will likely remain volatile until there is more clarity and a resolution that allows the normal flow of oil through the region.
