The mortgage market is experiencing some serious volatility right now. Between rising oil and gas prices, continued inflation concerns, uncertainty in the labor market and movement in the bond market, mortgage rates have climbed FAST.

And unfortunately, we may see things get a little worse before they get better.

But here’s something VERY important when you’re comparing mortgage rates:

That means I’m not quoting you a pretty rate that requires thousands of dollars in points just to get there.

When comparing lenders, ALWAYS ask:

“How many points am I paying for that rate?”

Because the lowest advertised rate isn’t necessarily the lowest-cost loan.

As a small mortgage broker with low overhead, I shop multiple loan options and focus on the entire financing strategy — rate, fees, monthly payment AND long-term cost.

Buying a home right now? Don’t automatically assume you need to wait for rates to come down.

Mortgage rates continue to push higher, and unfortunately, there’s still a lot of pressure working against lower rates right now.

The ongoing conflict involving the U.S. and Iran continues to create uncertainty in the markets. Higher oil prices and inflation concerns can put pressure on Treasury yields — and ultimately mortgage rates.

Until we see meaningful progress toward stability in the Middle East, along with some relief on inflation, we could continue to see elevated and volatile mortgage rates.

I was proud to handle the financing on this incredible Canyon Lake waterfront purchase.

Deals at this level require a different kind of attention.

When you’re dealing with high-dollar loan amounts, complex financial profiles and luxury real estate, you can’t always take a cookie-cutter approach to financing. Sometimes you have to get creative, look at the entire financial picture and structure the loan in a way that actually gets the deal done.

That’s exactly what I was able to do here.

I worked through the financing options, found a creative solution that fit my clients’ situation, and stayed personally involved throughout the transaction to make sure we made it all the way to the closing table.
