Why is music and movement important??

#1… it’s fun!!

Physical and Motor Skills
💃🏻 Gross motor development: Children build strength, balance, coordination, and agility by galloping, leaping, twirling, and marching.
🕺🏻 Body and spatial awareness: Moving to a beat helps kids understand how their bodies fit and move through physical space.

Cognitive and Academic Growth
🧮Pattern and math awareness: Recognizing beats, tempos, and musical sequences builds early logical thinking, counting concepts, and pattern recognition.

Language and Literacy
🗣️Vocabulary expansion: Singing songs and chanting rhymes introduce new words, phrases, and sound patterns.
👂🏼 Listening comprehension: Following multi-step verbal cues in action songs improves attention and language processing.

Social and Emotional Development
✋🏼 Self-regulation: Following cues (like stopping on command in freeze dance) or using movement to release pent-up energy helps children manage their emotions.
💭 Creative expression: Freely interpreting music lets children safely express feelings and explore their own imagination.

🐻 We had so much fun hanging out with our teddy bears for that the children didn’t even realize that they were learning and practicing so many skills!!

Just to name a few…
-Social-Emotional: Participating cooperatively and constructively in group situations
-Physical: Balancing
-Language: Using appropriate conversational and other communication skills
-Cognitive: Demonstrating positive approaches to learning; Attending and engaging
