I almost quit the mortgage business 45 days in.

I had started at a mortgage brokerage where we were expected to bring in our own clients. I was buying online leads, running newspaper ads, doing every cold approach the team around me was doing, and dreading every second of it. I thought sales just wasn't for me.

Then, one phone call changed everything.

A friend invited me to a seminar on intentionally working by referral and within 90 minutes I knew exactly what kind of loan officer I was going to be.

The career I love today exists because I stopped doing the work the way I was told to and started doing it the way that felt right for me.

POV: Your phone dings and it’s a homebuyer wondering how you can help.

That first “ding” is my favorite part of the whole transaction. The first text that says “I have no idea what I’m doing, can you help me?”
