Don't make these mistakes this year during open enrollment!!

1. “I’ll just let it auto-renew”
Your plan, your costs, or your doctors may have changed. Look before you roll over.

2.“Waiting until the last day”
That’s when websites crash and the good appointments are gone. Don’t be that person.

3. “Not checking my prescriptions”
If your meds aren’t on the plan’s covered drug list, that “cheap” plan gets expensive fast.

4. “Didn’t update my income”
This one’s for the self-employed. Your income estimate affects your tax credits. Get it wrong and you could owe money back at tax time.

5. “I didn’t know I qualified for help”
A lot of entrepreneurs assume they make too much. Check before you pay full price.

6. “Never checked if my doctor is in-network”
This is the #1 call we get in January. 🫠

7. “I’m healthy, I don’t need insurance”
Until you’re not. One ER visit can cost more than a year of premiums.

I’m starting a series highlighting local Medicare Advantage options and what to consider before enrolling. First up: Devoted Health!

For 2027, Devoted Choice Giveback 002 GA (PPO) is available in Gwinnett County and offers a $184.70 monthly Part B premium reduction, SilverSneakers, and a $150 annual allowance for eligible fitness expenses.

Extra benefits are helpful, but the right fit also depends on your doctors, prescriptions, and healthcare needs. Piedmont Hospital, Grady Memorial Hospital, and Northeast Georgia Medical Center are out of network for this plan. If you use these hospitals, let’s review your options before you enroll.

Benefits and availability vary by plan and location. You must continue paying any remaining Part B premium. The premium reduction is unavailable if Medicaid or another third party pays your Part B premium and may take several months to process.
