***UPDATE: Two county evacuations downgraded to voluntary
The Wayne County EMA has announced that as of Monday afternoon, the Wayne County evacuations of Manningtown and the area from the Brantley County line at Wire Road to Post Road to Ten Mile Road are changed to voluntary.
All other evacuations are still on mandatory status, and residents are cautioned that conditions may change rapidly, with other evacuation status changes possible.
Still under MANDATORY evacuation are the areas from the intersection of Ten Mile Road and Mt. Pleasant Road to the county line (7926 Mt. Pleasant Road to 92 Mobile Road), the EMA reported.
In addition, the Wayne County schools have announced that school will be going on normally on Tuesday. The school announcement also repeated that, for those who feel they cannot travel safely to school, a note should be sent when the child returns to school.
Glynn County has also downgraded the mandatory evacuation order to a voluntary evacuation for the following areas:
- Old Post Road to Highway 32
- Highway 32 to Thalmann Park Lane
- Thalmann Park Lane to Bladen Road
- Bladen Road to Old Post Road
The Red Cross has opened a third shelter at Unity Church of God for those evacuating. This is in addition to shelters in Lake Park and Brunswick.
In addition, Fair Haven is offering limited beds for those who meet their qualifications: serving single women and women-with-children households only due to program guidelines.
