I was 20 years old, newly married, and holding the keys to my very first home… and honestly, I was scared to death.
We used a VA loan, and our interest rate was 9.75% (yes… even with good credit 😅). We bought a townhouse for $32K (I know… wild compared to today), but back then, it felt like a HUGE leap. Our payment was going to be $335/month plus HOA dues - and I remember thinking, “What if we’re not ready for this?”
It felt overwhelming. Like such a big commitment at such a young age. But I’ll never forget what our loan officer told us:
this was an amazing step forward… and we should be proud to be homeowners so young, because we were building our future.
And that’s exactly what we did 🤍
We brought our first son home to that little townhouse. And just a couple years later, when he was 2, we were able to use the equity from that home to buy land and build our next one.
That first step made everything else possible.
That’s why I believe so strongly in homeownership.
Not because the timing is ever perfect…
but because it creates opportunity.
And most people don’t realize how possible it actually is for them.
If buying a home has been on your mind but you’re not sure where to start - you’re not alone. I’ve been there 🤍
And I’d love to help you take that first step.
