Fed rate cut makes the headlines but the real story for mortgages is the ending of quantitative tightening.

While this rate cut was warranted, Powells speech comments about the uncertainty of further December cuts actual negatively affected the bond market and cause a mid day reprice on mortgage rates.

Whether or not that step backwards is long lasting is to be seen but the outlook still seems that they are trying to help make things more affordable without causing a bump in inflation.
