You catch 'em, we cut 'em! Quality fish filleting conveniently located behind the Salty Dawg Saloon. Through combining the two nicknames, Buttwhackers was born.

In the late 1980s, fish filleters were given the nickname "whackers" because they literally "whacked" (or filleted) halibut. Homer, Alaska is known as the halibut fishing capital of the world, and gradually fisherman came to use the nickname "Butts" as a shorthand to refer to the species, halibut. Buttwhackers was created in 2002 to provide the dock and fillet services to charters and independently owned boats. Still today, we provide fisherman and captains alike with a location to unload and hang their catch, take photos, and of course, the show of 'whacking butts'.

Another successful season and a sunny Buttwhackers party in the books! Huge thanks to everyone who came out, supported our harbor community, kept us fed all summer, sent us fish to cut, and repped the Whackerwear! This community makes the grind fun and keeps us going year after year. 🫶🏼🐟
