Merchant Monday: Daisy Dukes Flower Shop & Cafe ☕️

The flower farm from Papaaloa has been growing since 2019, and now you can pick up fresh bouquets and plants in the same stop as your coffee.

Walk in and you’ll find buckets of fresh cut flowers, a bright mint counter, and a menu of handcrafted drinks, bagels, açaí bowls, and fresh malasadas from Manuela Malasada Company. Browse the shelves for local goods like Maui banana bread, Earl’s Waimea musubis, and honey lavender coffee, or take home a plant.

Grab a drink, pick out some flowers, and brighten someone’s day, maybe your own. Supporting local keeps Hilo blooming.

On Kamehameha Ave in downtown Hilo. Tucked inside the Wild HeArtist boutique and gallery, it’s a coffee stop that doubles as a mini art walk.

Order a Hawaiian coffee, a hand squeezed lemonade, or a scoop of local ice cream, then take your time with the local art, jewelry, candles, and skincare. Every corner has something worth a second look.

Merchant Mondays: Aloe Kine Smoothies 🌺

Aloe Kine Smoothies began with a backyard full of aloe and a simple question: what do we do with all of it? Crystal Mukai and her husband found the answer in smoothies, a wonderful way to use their own local produce. What started as a way to share the harvest turned into a family business, and in 2022 Crystal opened the Aloe Kine food truck to build something more stable.

Today the truck serves students at UH Hilo and parks in front of S. Tokunaga Store on Manono Street. Every smoothie is blended to order with aloe the Mukai family grows at home. Try the Kalapana or the Waipio, or ask what’s fresh that day. Crystal says the Hilo smoothie owners lift each other up, and that kind of community is what we love to see.

Merchant Monday: Big Island Delights “NEW LOCATION” 🍫

Jeff and Carla Takamine started Big Island Delights in 1996, bringing the values they grew up with in Honokaʻa and Ninole into everything they make: hard work, humility, generosity, and care for others. Thirty years later, those values have a beautiful new home.

Come by for chocolate dipped animal crackers, Hawaiian Rocky Road, macadamia nut biscotti, and gift boxes ready for any occasion. Congratulations to the whole ʻohana on the new shop.
