I did college by any means necessary. That meant student loans I’m still thinking about years later.

When I became a mom, that experience followed me. I didn’t want my kids to carry what I carried.

Then I learned about a strategy that could have changed the whole timeline, growth without the market’s downside, no penalty if life didn’t go exactly as planned.

I found it when my kids were already teenagers, not when they were babies. I didn’t get the years I wish I’d had.

Can I tell you something that hit me when my second baby was born?

When my first daughter came, I was so protective. I didn’t even want my mom to take her. I didn’t want anybody to touch her.

By the time my second baby arrived, I was different. My mom showed up to take my daughter and I told her, take the baby with you too. She looked at me like I had lost my mind. She said, you wouldn’t even let me hold the first one when she was little.

I said, girl, I learned my lesson. Take both of them. 😂

That’s just how it goes sometimes. The first baby is the trial run. The second one gets the benefit of everything you figured out the first time around.

And I think about that a lot when it comes to money.

So many of our oldest children miss out on things that the younger siblings get, simply because we didn’t know yet. We hadn’t learned.
