Today, we're excited to announce the recipients of the 2026 Greenville Federal Credit Union Foundation Scholarship! With the help of a third party, we selected these students from a competitive pool of applicants from across the school district. Students are chosen based on a wide variety of criteria. Without further ado, here are the students!

$5,000 Scholarship:

Katherine Williams - Wade Hampton High School

$1,000 Scholarships:

Elijah McCann - Mauldin High School
Alex Woodhouse - Greenville Senior High School
Henrique Shiota Timmers Montandon - Eastside High School
Kaylee Penkowski - Greer High School
Cesia Tomas-Miguel (Not Pictured) - Berea High School

We also have two special shoutouts. The first is to John Jackson, one of our student members, who will be receiving a $5,000 scholarship from the Carolinas Credit Union League Foundation. He attends Greer High School.

We also want to give special recognition to Kaylee, who is a part of the Branch at Greer High.

📱If someone called you claiming to be your grandchild, would you recognize the voice? What if they claimed to be your aunt or your cousin?

There is a scam known as a Relative Scam, where someone pretends to be one of your relatives. They will then contact you claiming to be in some sort of financial trouble.

Playing off of your good nature, they will try to convince you that if you don't help them, something bad will happen.

If this happens, never send the money right away. Hang up and call the relative directly. Always try to verify who you are speaking to.

💔We hate to break it to you, but chances are, you aren't in an online relationship with Brad Pitt or Scarlett Johannsen. It's even less likely that you're in a secret relationship AND they need your money.

This is a Romance Scam. A fraudster poses as someone on a dating site or app (famous or not) to get you to develop feelings for them. Then, once you are smitten, they create a reason for you to send them money. It could be for a new phone, plane tickets to visit you, or any reason they think you'll find feasible.

However, once you send the money, they'll cut contact, or worse, they'll ask you for more.
