Try to keep money set aside after closing. Your first surprise expense usually doesn’t wait long.
3. Thinking “move-in ready” means no repairs
Even a beautiful home can need little fixes, maintenance, or upgrades sooner than expected.
4. Trying to finish every room immediately
You do not need a fully furnished house on day one. Give yourself time.
5. Forgetting about the monthly extras
Power, water, internet, lawn care, pest control, and other bills can add up fast.
6. Not creating a home repair fund
Appliances break. Pipes leak. HVAC systems need service. A little money set aside can save a lot of stress.
