22 years old. Teaching college freshmen at a big state university — and a lot of my students were older than me.

I was so nervous on day one that I introduced myself three times. 🙈

Somewhere around the third ‘my name is Dawn,’ something clicked: calm down. You know this.

It got better after that. And it taught me something I still carry — I can walk into any room, introduce myself to anybody, and I know my field.
