80 years ago, something special kicked off right here in North Dakota!

On April 16, 1946, Nodak Insurance Company (originally Nodak Mutual Insurance Company) was born in Fargo, thanks to the North Dakota Farm Bureau and a mission: to help farmers and ranchers with protection they could count on.

It all started with just $500 from 100 members.

What a humble beginning—with a purpose that still guides us today!

80 years later, that purpose is stronger than ever.

🚜 Farming season is here — please drive with caution on rural roads! 🌾

This time of year means more tractors, and large equipment are sharing the road. These vehicles move slower, take up more space, and may make wide turns or sudden stops.

A few reminders to stay safe:

🐌 Slow down and be patient — you’re likely closer to your destination than they are
🚫 Don’t pass unless you’re absolutely sure it’s safe
👀 Watch for turning signals — farm equipment often swings wide
⚠️ Be extra alert at dawn, dusk, and after dark

Let’s do our part to keep our farmers and everyone on the road safe this season. 💛

We’re celebrating 80 incredible years! 🎉
Tomorrow, April 23rd, our office will be closing at 3:00 PM so our team can take part in our anniversary celebration.

Congratulations to Terrie R Nehring - Nodak Insurance Agent in Hazen, for receiving the award for highest percentage growth from NDFB. Terrie was raised on a cattle ranch near Williston. She brought her love of farming and ranching to Hazen through her hobby farm, where she raises horses and goats. Terrie received the check from NDFB Southwest Field Representative Molly Kerner (on left).

The weather is finally turning ☀️—longer days, warmer temps, and more time to enjoy the road and the lakes!

With that, a couple important reminders:

🚸 First reminder is slow down in residential areas! Kids are outside running around and most likely not paying as much attention as they should crossing the roads.

🛻 Campers are coming out of storage. Be sure to go through your safety checklist ensuring a safe trip every time for your family, and the other families on the road as well.

🏍️ Keep an extra eye out for motorcycles. They’re back out and often harder to see—look twice, save a life.

🚗 If you’re heading to the lake and plan on drinking, plan ahead. Line up a sober ride, use a rideshare, or have a designated driver.
