Here's something that doesn't get talked about enough...
β¨ You cannot show up to school, to work, to life if your most basic needs aren't met. β¨
1 in 5 girls misses school during their period. Not because they don't want to be there. Because they don't have what they need to go.
That's not a small statistic. That's her confidence, her education, her future.
For women and girls navigating poverty, homelessness, or financial insecurity, access to hygiene essentials is an everyday challenge. It's the difference between being able to participate in life and being left behind.
And hygiene access isn't separate from women's equity... it is a part of women's equity. And it starts long before the workplace. It starts in the classroom. π
This is the work we show up for year round at Simply the Basics and we're thrilled to be growing it. Our School Hygiene program is expanding, bringing everyday essentials including menstrual care products directly into school communities, so student aren't forced to choose between their hygiene and their education.
Because you can't reach your potential if you can't meet your basic needs.
Yesterday was International Women's Day but the conversation doesn't stop here...
β‘οΈ Follow along as we grow this program and get essentials into the hands of students who need them most. ππ
