You may think your condo association’s master policy provides all the coverage you need, but it typically focuses on the building’s exterior, structure, and shared spaces, leaving gaps that your own condo insurance can help fill.

Condo insurance can help cover:

• Interior features you’re responsible for insuring, such as flooring, cabinets, and fixtures.
• Personal belongings, such as furniture and electronics.
• Personal liability if you’re held responsible for someone’s injury or damage to their property.
• Additional living expenses if a covered loss makes your unit unlivable.

Reach out to us to review your condo insurance and discuss potential gaps in coverage.

Most homeowners or drivers have some form of homeowners and auto insurance; however, their coverage might not be enough to protect them in the event of a major claim.

When a serious accident or unexpected lawsuit exceeds what your existing policies can cover, the gap between what you owe and what your insurance pays becomes very real, very fast. That’s where umbrella liability coverage comes in.

Umbrella liability insurance covers costs that would otherwise come straight out of your pocket. With relatively low annual costs, this comprehensive coverage can be one of the most affordable ways to fully protect what you love.

So, if you’re curious about whether umbrella insurance makes sense for your situation, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We are here to help you run the numbers and see what makes sense.

October is Fire Prevention Month, serving as a good reminder that fire safety is not something to put off until an emergency happens. In the United States, one home structure fire is reported every 96 seconds, serving as a sobering reminder of the importance of fire safety.

So, that said, our team wanted to share a few practical tips worth reviewing this season:

⚫ Know the leading causes - Cooking and heating are the two leading causes of home fires in the United States. Never leave cooking unattended, keep flammable materials at least three feet from heat sources, and check electrical cords regularly for damage or fraying.

⚫ Check your smoke alarms - Test them monthly, replace batteries annually, and fully replace any alarm that is 10 or more years old.

⚫ Have an escape plan and practice it - Plan two ways to escape from every room, make sure all windows and doors open easily, and designate an outdoor meeting place.

⚫ Know how to use a fire extinguisher - Remember the acronym PASS: Pull the pin, Aim low at the base of the fire, Squeeze the handle slowly, and Sweep the nozzle side to side. If you are not confident, get out and call 911.

⚫ Build safer daily habits - Never leave portable heaters or fireplaces unattended, keep matches and lighters locked away from children, avoid overloading outlets, and turn off all appliances before leaving the house or going to bed.

Fire prevention is a shared responsibility, and a little preparation goes a long way. If you have further questions about fire safety, we encourage you to reach out to your local fire station.

And if you have any insurance questions or needs, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We are here to help you.

How well do you know your car insurance? The answer is…

C! Backing into a mailbox would typically fall under collision coverage. Comprehensive coverage generally helps cover theft and damage from events other than a collision, such as hail or falling branches. The exact coverage will depend on the policy.

Fall in New England is beautiful, but it's also your home's last call to prep before winter. A few weekends of maintenance now can prevent expensive headaches later.

Here is a quick checklist to think about:

🔹Clean gutters and downspouts so melting snow has somewhere to go
🔹Schedule an HVAC tune-up before the first cold snap
🔹Inspect your roof for loose or missing shingles
🔹Seal gaps around windows and doors
🔹Disconnect hoses and shut off exterior water lines

Preventive care and the right home insurance work hand in hand. If you have questions about what your policy covers heading into winter, we're happy to talk it through.

What exactly is umbrella insurance and why is it important?

Here's the simple explanation: an umbrella policy adds an extra layer of liability protection above the limits of your home and auto policies. If an accident or lawsuit exceeds what your standard coverage pays, the umbrella steps in to protect your savings, your home, and your future earnings.

With lawsuit settlements and medical costs climbing, more everyday families are adding this protection, and it's often more affordable than people expect.

Curious whether an umbrella policy makes sense for your family? Ask us today: www.automatedip.com.

No pressure, just a straight answer.

Which would you choose?

Did you know your home’s location can play a major role in the insurance coverage you may need? Every location comes with its own risks. For example, a mountain cabin may face a greater wildfire risk, while a beach house may be more vulnerable to tropical storms and flooding.

Give us a call to discuss your home insurance options and make sure your property is properly protected.
