School-day safety starts before students leave home.
Whether your child walks, bikes, rides the bus, gets dropped off, or drives themselves, a quick safety reminder can make a meaningful difference:
• Walkers: Use sidewalks and marked crosswalks, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing.
• Bicyclists: Wear a properly fitted helmet, follow traffic rules, and choose lower-traffic routes when possible.
• Bus riders: Stand well back from the curb, wait until the bus fully stops, and stay in the driver’s line of sight when crossing.
• Drop-off families: Follow school-zone speed limits and drop-off procedures, and never pass a stopped school bus.
• Teen drivers: Buckle up, put phones away, obey the speed limit, and stay focused on the road.
