🏠 A Positive Shift for Homeowners Insurance

According to a recent AM Best report, U.S. homeowners insurers recorded a $16.5 billion underwriting profit in 2025, marking the first underwriting gain for the industry since 2019.

The improvement was driven by insurers better matching premiums to risk, advances in data and analytics, improved underwriting and claims practices, and a relatively calm 2025 hurricane season. The homeowners combined ratio also improved significantly, from 90.7 in 2024 to 84.5 in 2025.

While the homeowners insurance market continues to evolve, these results point to meaningful changes in how insurers are managing risk and pricing coverage.
