Think the 30 percent rule is out of reach? You're not bad with money. Home prices and rates have climbed faster than many paychecks, so the math feels harder than it should. Here's the approach I walk clients through: start with a monthly payment you can comfortably live with, then work backwards to see what loan that supports at today's rate. A bigger down payment can lower it too. Also, lenders often qualify you based on gross income, the pay before taxes, so they may approve more than you should comfortably carry. Know your own limit, not just the approval number. Save this for your next budget check, and send me a message if you'd like to run your numbers together. 🏡
