Controversial birthday alert!!! Happy birthday Social Security!!

91 years old as of Friday, the Social Security Act was signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 14th, 1935!

Ida May Fuller was the first recipient with her first check dated January 31st, 1940 for $22.54!

But wait for it!! She had paid $24.75 into the system and ultimately collected $22,888.92 before she passed in 1975 at age 100!!

All this rain over the last few days gave me the perfect excuse to spend some time on the couch with a good book.

I just finished Die With Zero.

I started it thinking, "There's no way I'll agree with this." But I ended up really enjoying the perspective it challenged me to consider.

A few questions that stuck with me:

✅ Are we getting the best return on life from our money?

✅ Should we give to loved ones when it can make the biggest impact, rather than waiting until we're gone?

✅ Are we postponing too much of life's enjoyment until retirement?

No easy answers, but definitely worthwhile questions to think about.

Sometimes the most impactful books are the ones that make us question our assumptions!

I had the opportunity to speak on a panel at an Alternative Investments Conference in Chicago—and what an experience!

Do I have it all figured out? Not even close. But I’m a big believer in staying curious, embracing a growth mindset, and not letting perfection get in the way of progress.

It was incredibly rewarding to share how I help clients navigate alternative investments—while also learning from some of the sharpest minds in the industry! Opportunities like this are a great reminder that growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone.

Grateful for the invite and already looking forward to the next one!!
