Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Shana Elliott

Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Shana Elliott Edward Jones is a financial - services firm dedicated to serving the needs of individual investors. Member SIPC. Clearly I enjoy numbers!

I was 8 years old when the stock market crashed in October 1987. I decided I needed to confront my financial advisor (who also happened to be my father). I walked into his room dressed in my finest pajamas and demanded to know why my little custodial account was worth less this month than last month. Today I enjoy being a financial advisor of 20-plus years, helping my clients achieve their financi

al goals based on a philosophy of quality investments and long-term advice. Partnering with Edward Jones has allowed me to bring value to the lives of the families I work with. I am a graduate of the “Fightin Texas Aggie” Class of 2002. While in school, I put my love of numbers to the test and obtained a BS in chemical engineering. After graduating, I chose Edward Jones and started my own practice in 2003. In 2013, I achieved the CFP® designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. In 2022 I obtained the CPWA® or Certified Private Wealth Advisor designation from the Investments & Wealth Institute. My husband, Chad, and I have twin daughters, Annabelle and Andie. We thoroughly enjoy being a part of this community where we both grew up. We enjoy watching our girls play volleyball, traveling and camping as a family. My branch team includes Amy Bond, Valerie Skower and Associate Financial Advisor Keaton Davis who is a Texas A&M graduate with a BS in Ag-Economics. When working with clients, we begin by identifying what is most important to them. We take inventory of not only their financial data, but also their personal values and life ambitions. We compile this information into a roadmap for the future, always keeping eyes on that long-term vision, while addressing both the short-term victories and bumps in the road. If you want to work with an experienced, professional team who cares about you and your family, please give us a call. We look forward to partnering with you.

Happy 529 Day!

Whether your child is going to college or has other plans, here are four reasons to consider a 529 education savings plan.

First are tax advantages. Earnings grow federally tax-free, and many states offer tax deductions on contributions.

Second is the flexibility beyond college. You can use 529 funds for vocational programs, apprenticeships and even K-12 school tuition up to $20,000 yearly.

Third is the range of qualified expenses. Beyond tuition, use 529 funds on books, computers, and eligible room and board. And now, with recent law changes, you can even cover certain testing fees, as well as some tutoring and education therapies.

Finally, you have options if your plans change. You can transfer the account to another family member, pay up to $10,000 in student loans or roll funds into a Roth IRA (subject to certain limits and criteria).

Maybe it's time for your family to consider a 529 plan.

Talk to a financial advisor to see if it can support your family's future needs.
