The most powerful ideas are not always difficult to understand. Sometimes, they are difficult to accept because they challenge something we have believed for a very long time.

Nearly a century ago, Keynes recognized that progress is often limited less by our ability to imagine something new than by our willingness to question what has become familiar. Old ideas become assumptions. Assumptions become conventions. And eventually, conventions become so deeply embedded that we stop asking whether there might be a better way.

The mortgage industry offers a fascinating example. Many of the fundamental ideas that shaped modern home financing were established in the 1930s. They solved an important problem for their time and became so successful that generations later, we rarely stop to ask a different question: If we were designing a mortgage for today, would we design it the same way?

That question is bigger than any one mortgage product. It is about curiosity, progress and our willingness to reconsider what we think we already know.

As loan officers, perhaps one of the greatest values we can bring to our clients isn’t simply knowing the products available to us. It is having the courage to challenge conventional thinking, explore better possibilities and help our clients do the same.

NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸. 25 years ago today the whole world stopped. If you were old enough to remember, you will never forget. I can recall that morning vividly but I couldn’t tell you what I did the next day. So many lives lost and most lives changed. Thank you to all the first responders then and now.
