What’s holding you back?
We can't change our circumstances. But we CAN change our outlook and our attitude. And sometimes that's all it takes to change the outcomes completely.

When's the last time you took stock of your life?

All of us are guilty of keeping habits and routines in our lives that don't serve us.

For example: Is scrolling through your phone for an hour before bed really the best use of your time in the evening? (I'm not speaking from experience or anything!)

Every so often I try to take stock of my daily habits and routines. I want to make sure they're helping me become the person I want to be.

What in your life is holding you back instead of propelling you forward?

If you're like me, you find it hard to say no sometimes.

It’s taken me years to realize the toll that takes on myself and my family.

For the sake of my health and my family's relationships, I have to choose to say no at times. Because every no you say now is a yes to something else.

Time is precious. Don't waste it saying yes to things that don't matter.

I've worked with many of my team members since 2003.

That is 18 years spent together! Our work relationship is fully grown and almost out of the house. 😂

The average time loan originators spend at one company is 3.1 years. I think the fact that many on my team have stayed together this long speaks volumes about the quality of our team and our willingness to work together.

We don't view this as a one-man (or woman) show. It's a team sport, and we all have to pitch in to succeed. We rely on each other to learn and grow, and we value each other's unique perspectives and opinions.

That's not to say it's always easy—it isn't. But it's always rewarding. And when we come together with our unique strengths, the result is pretty magical.

If you've never read the book 'Everybody, Always,' I encourage you to. It has changed how I treat those around me.

The book is about why we should love everybody. I know what you're thinking. It's impossible to do that, and maybe we aren't meant to love some people.

Bob Goff goes so beautifully into detail about what it's like to love the people that are hard to love and those who are different from us.

When I think about the most influential people in my life, their influence does not come from the job title or power they have; it comes from how their character has positively influenced my life.

When I look back at my life, I would rather say that I loved people when it was tough rather than walk away because it was easier. I'm a believer that there's no such thing as loving too much.

We need more kindness and grace in our lives. I want my influence to come from the way I treated people rather than the things I accomplished.

If you know me, you know running has become a big part of my life.

I love the runner's high, the routine of running every morning, and the personal challenge.

In running, I'm my own biggest competitor!

Running has taught me so many valuable lessons: discipline, perseverance, and persistence are just a few. But I think my favorite thing about running is that it demonstrates the value of showing up.

There are really good days and really, really bad days in running.

Some days, my whole body is sore, and it feels like my legs weigh a hundred pounds. On those days, I fight for every single step.

Other days, I feel like I'm soaring… like I could run forever.

The point isn't that I have a "good" running day every day. The point is that I keep showing up, no matter what.

If that's not a life lesson, I don't know what is.

You won't see immediate results every single day. You won't feel instant gratification all the time.

But if you keep showing up, you WILL make progress. It's inevitable.

Keep going.

I love the movie Groundhog Day.

It's one of those movies that, no matter how many times I watch it, I always learn something.

Mostly, it teaches me to be a kind person and to be grateful for my life.

Because if I'm honest, some days feel a little bit like Groundhog Day. Wake up, get ready, go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to sleep. Rinse and repeat, over and over again.

It's so easy to go through the motions, isn't it?

Well, I've been thinking about how to celebrate each and every day for what it is. And I think it all starts with paying attention and being grateful.

When we pay attention to the people beside us, the world around us, and the feelings within us, we discover the meaning hidden within every single day.

It doesn't have to be anything spectacular that you notice. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference.

And over time, our attention and gratitude will create fulfillment. And when we're fulfilled, even the most repetitive day feels like an opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

If I could go back and tell my younger self one thing, I'd tell her not to compare herself to other people.

I've heard the quote, "Comparison is the thief of joy," which I absolutely think is true. But even more, I think that comparison is the thief of dreams.

Because when you focus on what the people around you are doing, it's so easy to lose sight of the dreams waiting within you.

Often, you have to get quiet and still to hear the inner voice of your hopes, dreams, and ambitions.

And when you're caught up in comparison, it can drown out that still, small voice within you.

I'm proud to have finally arrived at a place in life where I can shut out the voice of comparison. Instead, I can focus on MY dreams. But I wish I had gotten here sooner.

Don't compare yourself to others. Everyone's different. Own YOUR calling and step into it without fear.

Pay attention to what you pay attention to.

How many things have asked for your attention in the past thirty minutes? The headline in your news feed, the Instagram post from a college classmate, emails in the inbox, or even the drama in the office next door?

How many of those things are important to you? Which of those do you care about?

If we only give our attention to the things that ask the loudest or most often, we'll likely spend it on things that don't matter to us.

Because some things matter, and others don't. Some things make a difference, and others carry no weight. Some things bring goodness and beauty, and some distract.

What you give your attention to is what you will give your energy to. And what you spend your time on is how you spend your life.

I love this quote from Annie Dillard: "How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives."

Stick with what matters.
