While there I noticed the volunteers looked a little chilly and I heard one of them say I really wish I brought a hot coffee. I realize this was my opportunity to bring a little bit of light to someone’s day. Same payment. Very different outcomes.

This scenario compares renting vs. owning with the same $2,500 monthly payment. After 3 years, the renter has paid roughly $90,000 to a landlord and has nothing to show for it. The homeowner has built about $75,000 in equity. Fast forward 10 years and the renter’s net worth from housing is still $0, while the homeowner’s net worth has grown by roughly $300,000.

Every morning before school, my son and I hit the Pickleball courts, even in 20° weather. And once we get moving? It is absolutely worth it. It hit me on how much it mirrors my work life. So many of my first time home buyers have been feeling cold feet, scared to get started. The ones that choose to dive in, push through the cold feet, and fear of the unknown, they realize all the work to get into the perfect home for their family…It’s worth it. Helping people move from. “can we even do this? “ to “We are home” never gets old. Sometimes the hardest part is just stepping onto the court. I’m grateful for clients who trust me to help them get started and for the reminders from my best little teacher that doing meaningful things with people you care about is always worth showing up for.
