Your vote is your voice, and today is the day to use it. National Election Day on November 3rd brings midterm elections to the forefront, where voters across the country head to the polls to elect members of Congress, governors, and local officials who will shape policy at every level of government for years to come. Midterms historically see lower turnout than presidential elections, with only about 40 to 50 percent of eligible voters showing up compared to roughly 60 to 65 percent in presidential years, but the decisions made today can be just as consequential.

Happy National Cat Day to the only roommates who pay no rent, knock your belongings off the counter on purpose, and still get the best seat in the house! Celebrated every October 29th, this day was started in 2005 by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige to celebrate our feline friends and to bring attention to the many cats waiting for homes in shelters. Somehow, a day that began with such a good cause also turned into a worldwide excuse to flood the internet with cat photos, and I think we can all agree that’s a fair trade. Cats have spent thousands of years letting us believe we own them, and honestly, the con is working perfectly.
