THIS THURSDAY!
Today Israelis delivered their verdict on Benjamin Netanyahu, who does not appear to have the winning coalition that has supported him for decades. We don't know what will come — at the moment, there's no outright winner, even as Bibi, according to reports, seeks to put a pretty face on his loss and has called for the formation of a “national right-wing government.” Who knows?
We do know, though, that a shift has occurred. How that affects our slithery engagement in "forever wars" remains to be seen.
Certainly the Israeli election has an impact on the bigger question, Are we drifting to a wider war?
This, and more, will be addressed in Padraig O'malley's next Moakley Webinar, happening this Thursday afternoon, 10/29/26, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern STANDARD Time, on Zoom.
Padraig is the John Joseph Moakley Chair for Peace and Reconciliation at UMass Boston, and will be examining the question with two renowned war experts, General George Casey (ret.) and Dr Nigel Hamilton, presidential biographer and UMass Boston John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy & Global Studies Senior Fellow.
The discussion will focus on how the lessons learned from two World Wars and conflicts in the Gulf apply to current wars in Russia / Ukraine / Iran / the U.S. / and Houthi / Saudi Arabia / Yemen — and how they might well ignite WWIII.
