The 2025 Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is just around the corner, starting on October 15, 2024, and running until December 7, 2024. This is your opportunity to make any changes to your Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug Plan, with any updates taking effect on January 1, 2025.

This year 2 new companies have entered the market, (BrightHealth & Oscar) and a familiar one has returned, (Cigna). Hopefully, the new competition will help stabilize the cost of coverage and bring us better access to providers. The short-term market has also improved with longer
duration policies and better benefits. The new short-term plans now include preventive care, medication, higher policy maximums and terms up to three years.

**Disclaimer about short-term medical: Individuals should only consider short-term coverage if you are non-subsidized, have no pre-existing medical conditions or do not want maternity coverage. If you are subsidized, have pre-existing medical conditions, want maternity coverage, and comprehensive preventive care, permanent ACA coverage will be best.

Good morning. I hope you've had a great 2018! This post is to alert you of the upcoming Health Insurance Open Enrollment period for 2019. During these 45 days you may purchase and make changes to your permanent ACA compliant health insurance policy. Open enrollment begins on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 and ends Saturday, December 15th, 2018. Please schedule a telephone appointment now to ensure we discuss your current needs, and enroll you in the best policy available for 2019.

The biggest change this year will be in the short-term health insurance market. Effective 01/01/2019 the tax penalty for not having permanent health insurance has been dropped, and you can now purchase short-term health insurance with a 12-month duration.

Individuals that may want to consider short-term coverage are non-subsidized, have no pre-existing medical conditions, and only want major medical coverage. If you are subsidized, have pre-existing medical conditions, want maternity coverage, preventive care, and medication coverage, please keep your permanent policy.
