What if every intentional money decision you made helped you trust yourself a little more?

Every time you walk away from something you don't really need.

Every time you save for future you instead of giving in to an impulse.

Every time you decide that what YOU value matters more than what an ad, trend, or social media post tells you to want.

You're proving to yourself that you can make financial decisions that support the life you're trying to build.

That's one of the things I love about intentional frugality.

It's not just about saving money. It's about learning to trust yourself with it. 💕

In today's article, we're sharing 6 ways intentional frugality can help you build self-trust, confidence and more financial freedom.

You don't have to cut back EVERYWHERE to make financial progress.

Maybe you don't care about having the newest car, but you love traveling. Maybe you'd happily spend less on clothes so you can invest more. Maybe dining out isn't important to you, but having a beautiful home is.

There's no universal list of things you "should" or "shouldn't" spend money on.

The goal is to get clear about what matters to YOU and make sure your spending reflects it.

That's intentional money management. 💰

Today’s Affirmation: “Money has a way of finding me. I welcome the steady flow of income and abundance into my life.” 💸✨

It's my birthday, and I'm doing what I love most: talking about money and the life it can help you build. 🎂🩷

In Episode 233, I'm getting personal. This one isn't about budgeting strategies or debt payoff timelines. It's about the bigger picture — the life I'm actually trying to create with all of this financial work.

Because sometimes we get so focused on the goals that we forget to ask: what is all of this FOR?

Here's the kind of wealth I'm building:

🩷 A life rich in experiences — travel has become one of the things I value most, and one of my goals is visiting all 50 states. Will I see every country in the world? Probably not. But I'm certainly going to spend my time trying. ✈️

🩷 A rental property portfolio — my fiancé and I share this dream, and it's not starting from scratch. Between managing properties with my brother and running my Palm Springs Airbnb, we're already building. The long-term vision is bigger though.

🩷 Owning property in places we love — he wants a lake cabin. I want a villa in Italy. 😄 Will it happen? Maybe. But years ago, Palm Springs felt like a big dream too. And then one day it was just… my reality.

🩷 Time and location freedom — the ability to go where I want, spend time with the people I love, and work from places that inspire me. That's the goal behind every financial goal.

Here's what I know for sure: you don't need the full roadmap to start moving. The roadmap usually appears while you're already walking. You just need a vision exciting enough to keep you going.

What does YOUR dream life look like? Drop it in the comments! I'd love to know!

It’s my birthday! 🎂🥳 And since it’s been a while since I’ve properly introduced myself, today feels like the perfect day.

Hi! I’m Raya (Ray-Uh). 👋🏽 Raya Reaves

I’m the founder of City Girl Savings and a financial coach helping women manage their money better so they can create more of the life they actually want.

I’ve been building City Girl Savings since 2015, and over the years, both my business and my definition of financial success have evolved.

These days, I’m a lot less interested in chasing numbers just for the sake of hitting them and a lot more interested in what those numbers allow me to DO.

I want to travel and eventually visit all 50 states. ✈️

I want to keep building wealth through investing and real estate.

I want my fiancé and me to grow our rental property portfolio and create something meaningful together.

I want the freedom to spend my time doing work I love, helping women improve their financial lives, being with the people I love, and having experiences I’ll remember.

And yes, I still love a good routine, an early morning workout, football season, my dogs, and probably anything that lets me plan ahead. 😂

The older I get, the clearer I become about what I want my money (and my life) to do.

To me, wealth means options.

Financial security. Time freedom. Travel. Experiences. Purpose. Impact. And the ability to make choices based on what matters to me.

That’s also a big part of why I believe so strongly in managing your money intentionally.

The goal isn’t simply to spend less, save more, or hit some arbitrary number.

It’s to make sure the money you’re working hard to earn is actually helping you build a life you want.

So, here’s to another year of life and another year of getting clearer about what I want mine to look like. 🥂💕

If you’re new here, introduce yourself in the comments! And if you’ve been part of the City Girl Savings community for a while, tell me how long you’ve been here. 🙌🏽

Cutting back and managing your money well aren't the same thing.

You can cancel subscriptions, stop eating out, skip shopping and temporarily cut your spending WAY down...

But what happens when you get tired of restricting yourself?

That's why I want women to focus less on how much they can deprive themselves and more on learning how to manage the money they already make.

Because cutting back is a tactic, but managing money is a skill.

And when you build that skill, you can create a financial system that helps you save, pay off debt, invest AND enjoy your life without constantly starting over.

In today's article, I'm breaking down why managing your money well will take you much further than simply finding more things to cut.

Some of the best things in my life started as dreams I had NO idea how I would accomplish.

Making City Girl Savings my full-time career.

Owning a place in Palm Springs.

At one point, both felt big and far away. I didn't have a perfect plan for making either happen.

But I knew I wanted them, so I kept moving in their direction.

And now? I have new dreams that feel just as big.

My fiancé and I want to continue building our rental property portfolio. He'd love a cabin on a lake. I'd love a villa in Italy. 🇮🇹

Do I know exactly how or when all of that will happen? Nope.

But one of the greatest lessons my past has taught me is that you don't have to know exactly how something will happen before you're allowed to dream about it.

You can figure out the roadmap while you're moving.

So if there's something you really want for your life, don't immediately talk yourself out of it because you can't see exactly how you'll get there.

See the vision first.

Then start making decisions that move you closer to it.

One step at a time. 💫

If you’re new to the City Girl Savings community, then I need you to know that while I may be a finance coach and the founder of City Girl Savings, I was an avid spender before City Girl Savings came to be.

I put myself in situations where shifting from a spending mindset to a savings mindset was a necessity.

I say all to say that I know a thing or two about being an over spender. I also know a thing or two about being a saver.

So, when it comes to shifting from a spending mindset to a savings mindset, my guidance speaks volumes, because I’ve been there.

If you struggle with spending, keep reading for tips on how to shift your spending mentality to a savings mentality. It may not happen overnight, but it can happen! Check out the blog now for more! https://citygirlsavings.com/shifting-from-a-spending-mindset-to-a-savings-mindset/

Cutting back just to cut back can get old FAST.

But saying no to something you don't really care about because you're saving for a trip, building your emergency fund, paying off debt, or working toward another goal you really want? That feels different.

Give your frugality a purpose. When you know what you're creating room for, those intentional spending choices become a lot easier to make. 💰
