🚨 Important 2027 Marketplace Update

Baylor Scott & White Health Plan has announced that it intends to discontinue its Individual & Family Marketplace plans at the end of the year.

If you currently have a Baylor Scott & White individual Marketplace plan, your 2026 coverage remains in place through the end of your coverage period. However, you will need to select a new health plan for 2027 during Open Enrollment.

Rate increases letters are also being sent out for the upcoming year and premiums are expected to increase an average of 15%.

Monday Q&A:

COBRA can let you temporarily keep your employer-sponsored health insurance after you leave a job or lose eligibility for the plan.

The important catch is that you usually pay the full premium yourself, including the amount your employer previously paid. That can make COBRA considerably more expensive than what you paid while employed.

However, COBRA can be useful if:

- You currently have ongoing medical treatment and/or a surgery scheduled.
- You've already met majority of your plan's deductible or out-of-pocket maximum for the year.
