Today was so much more than just another closing.

We officially closed on this beautiful home in Oakley for my amazing second daughter, Cordelia, and her awesome boyfriend, Angel. Watching Cordelia grow from a sweet 6-year-old little girl into the incredible woman she is today has been one of the greatest blessings in my life. I’ve been lucky enough to witness so many of her milestones, and being part of this one means more than words can express.

Helping families achieve homeownership is always rewarding, but helping someone who’s family makes it even more special. I’m so grateful that I was able to help with the financing while Lynda guided them through finding the perfect home. Together, we helped turn their dream into a reality.

Mortgage Market Update

Today is graduation day. 🎓

Three years ago, I took a temporary sub position. I still remember Angela Walker looking at me point blank and asking, “What, you don’t want to stay?”

In about 15 seconds, my entire future changed. The very next day, I enrolled in my credential and master’s program.

Graduating at 40 was definitely never on my bingo card, but here we are.

These last few years have been exhausting, emotional, overwhelming, and so incredibly worth it. My family has lived through late nights on the computer, missed events, papers being written while I was also trying to finish IEPs, full-time teaching, full-time school, still working mortgages, being a wife, and being a mom. There were so many moments I questioned how I was going to keep doing it all.

But somehow… I did.

To my family, thank you for sacrificing alongside me and loving me through every stressful moment, every deadline, every breakdown, and every victory.

I’m so proud of myself for not quitting when things got hard.

And honestly… “Dr. Smethers” has a pretty nice ring to it. 😉 Here’s to the next chapter. ❤️

What a weekend in Reno for Jayliana’s last cheer competition of the season ❤️📣

This season wasn’t easy for these girls. They faced a lot of hardships, challenges, and moments that could’ve broken their spirit but they kept showing up, kept working, and never gave up. Their resilience and determination truly paid off.

What an incredible way to end the season:
🏆 Her Youth Level 2 team became Division Champions — beating out all of the Level 3 and Level 4 teams competing.
🏆 Her Junior Level 1 team not only became Division Champions but took home Overall Grand Champion of the entire competition.

And to top it all off… both teams secured bids to Florida for next April! ✨

Jayliana, we are beyond proud of your hard work, perseverance, and heart. Watching you continue to grow through every challenge has been such a blessing. Keep shining, baby girl. This is only the beginning 💙

19 years ago today, my dad went home to be with our Heavenly Father. For a long time, I was bitter and angry at him for leaving us… for missing so many important milestones in our lives.

But over time, I’ve realized he didn’t miss them at all. He’s been in all of it.

He’s in the little things… every corny joke that makes me smile. Every time I see a man tucking his shirt into his shorts with knee socks, I think of him and laugh. Every time I think I can’t quite remember his voice, a memory finds me, and I can hear his laugh again.

Grief has changed over the years. What once felt like loss now often feels like presence.

I miss you, Dad. I carry you with me every day. 🤍
