🧠 June is Alzheimer's & Brain Health Awareness Month

Alzheimer’s affects more than 7 million Americans, and Medicare gives you some good tools to support it.

✅ Your yearly Medicare "Wellness" visit includes a no-cost cognitive check-in to screen for early signs of memory or cognitive issues. ✅ If your provider notices anything, Medicare also covers a separate, more in-depth cognitive care planning visit. ✅ Caregivers are welcome to attend these visits, ask questions, and help build a care plan together.

There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s, but early diagnosis can open the door to better treatment and support options. So don’t put it off. 💛 This June, consider scheduling your wellness visit and starting an open conversation with your loved ones about brain health.

💊 Medicare drug cost rules changed in 2026. To recap:

✔️ Part D now has a $2,100 annual out-of-pocket cap.
✔️ The maximum deductible is $615 (many plans charge less).
✔️ Insulin costs are capped at $35 or less per month for covered products.
✔️ Medicare negotiated lower prices on 10 high-cost drugs, including Eliquis, Jardiance, Xarelto, Januvia, Farxiga, Entresto, Enbrel, Stelara, Imbruvica, and certain insulin products.
✔️ Many adult vaccines remain $0 under Part D.

Your actual cost still depends on your plan’s structure, pharmacy network, and drug tier placement. If you’re taking prescriptions, especially any one of the negotiated drugs, it’s worth reviewing your coverage. That's what we're here for!

Medicare is changing in six states — and many beneficiaries don’t even realize it yet.

The new WISeR (Wasteful and Inappropriate Service Reduction) Model is a Medicare pilot program that adds prior authorization requirements for certain procedures under Original Medicare (Part A and Part B).

If you live in Arizona, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, or Washington, this could affect you.

Services now subject to additional review may include:

• Epidural steroid injections
• Spinal cord stimulators
• Knee arthroscopy for osteoarthritis
• Cervical and lumbar spinal fusion
• Certain wound care services
• Implantable pain pumps
• And more

This doesn’t mean care will be denied — but it may mean additional documentation, prior approval, and possible delays before certain procedures are covered.

Understanding how Medicare policy changes impact your coverage is important — especially if you rely on specialized treatments or pain management services.

If you have questions about how WISeR could affect your Medicare coverage, reach out to a licensed insurance professional. A knowledgeable broker can help you review your plan, understand your rights, and make sure you’re prepared.

Staying informed today can help you avoid surprises tomorrow.

What an incredible day at the Ohio Statehouse! 🏛️

I had the privilege of joining my fellow NABIP members for a powerful day of advocacy in Columbus — and it was a reminder of just how important it is to have a seat at the table when decisions affecting our clients and the health insurance industry are being made.

A highlight of the day was our meeting with State Representative Christine Cockley (D-Columbus, District 6). Rep. Cockley sits on the House Insurance Committee and has made expanding healthcare access and lowering costs a cornerstone of her work in the 136th General Assembly. The conversation was thoughtful, productive, and a great example of the kind of dialogue that moves the needle.

Days like this are why being part of NABIP matters. We aren't just insurance professionals — we are advocates for the individuals, families, and businesses we serve every day.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and made their voices heard. The work doesn't stop here. 💪

Planning an international trip? Don’t forget to check your health insurance coverage. ✈️

Many domestic health insurance plans provide limited or no coverage outside the United States. That means a medical emergency overseas could result in high out-of-pocket costs. Travel medical insurance can help fill that gap.

• Emergency medical treatment
• Hospital stays and physician visits
• Urgent care services
• Prescription medications
• Emergency medical evacuation
• Translation Services

Coverage with Gobal Solutions covers 24/7 global assistance, helping you locate medical facilities and coordinate care in unfamiliar countries. Don’t get stuck on your own out there! Travel coverage can be the difference between a major trip disaster and a good story you can tell when you get back home.
