The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at CNM helps people start and run small businesses that

generate wealth for their owners. In the strictest sense, the Albuquerque SBDC is in the business of creating and nurturing skilled entrepreneurs and strong businesses. You can be an entrepreneur if you invest your time, energy, and resources in a business that provides others with a valuable or needed product or service. Your good idea planted in well-prepared ground and tended conscientiously can grow into a business. As your business grows, you will hire employees; this is the very essence of "grassroots" economic development. If you own a small business, we can help you maximize the return on your investment. We want you to realize your dream! The staff of the SBDC at CNM is committed to improving the technical skills of the entrepreneur no matter where they are in the business growth cycle. We teach entrepreneurs how to make objective business decisions that help them manage risk so as to maximize profit. Contact the SBDC at CNM. We can get you on the right track. The CNM SBDC is funded by the New Mexico State Legislature and the Small Business Administration.

Twins Learning Academy Inc. Wins 2025 SBA New Mexico Family-Owned Small Business of the Year Award
Mother-Daughter Duo Honored for Transforming Albuquerque’s Childcare Landscape
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has named Twins Academy, Inc., co-owned by Norma Estrada and Erika Estrada Quezada, the 2025 New Mexico Family-Owned Small Business of the Year.

Norma, with over 25 years of experience and an Early Childhood Certificate from CNM, began caring for her twin granddaughters, inspiring Erika—then a nurse and new mother—to join her mother in building a legacy of care. Together, they pursued professional training opportunities, including the Crianza Accelerator Program, launched in 2018 by Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) in partnership with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at CNM in Albuquerque—a program hosted by the college to support local entrepreneurs. With guidance from SBDC Business Advisor Liliana Reyes, they transitioned their home-based model into a fully licensed childcare center. They opened their first center, Twins A & V, LLC, in the South Valley, followed by Twins Learning Center, Inc., and ultimately expanded to four centers—including their flagship location, Twins Academy, Inc., which today serves up to 170 children in Albuquerque’s Northeast Heights.
