For the 2025 plan year, several insurance companies are expanding their coverage through the federal or state-based healthcare exchanges. Here are the main insurers entering new states:
UnitedHealthcare is entering Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
HAP CareSource is expanding into MI.
WellSense will start offering plans in NH.
WellPoint is entering FL, MD & TX.
Simply Healthcare Plans, Inc. will offer plans in FL.
Ambetter/Iowa Total Care is entering Iowa.
Antidote Health will begin offering plans in AZ.
Meanwhile, some insurers are exiting specific markets, which might affect plan availability in those areas. For example, Cigna is leaving PA, SC, & UT, Ambetter is leaving NM while PacificSource is exiting WA.
These changes are part of the annual adjustments that insurers make to their participation in the healthcare exchanges, and they can impact both the availability of plans and subsidy amounts for enrollees in those regions.
