Greetings Classmates!
We are less than one month away from Charter Day, which means we are only 12 months away from our Reunion.
I have been back and forth on how best to approach this topic, so like a Band-Aid I'll just go for it: I want to beat however much the Class of '97 gives. I figure if we give in small increments starting this year (say $5-10 a month), by next year, ala Captain Planet and “our powers combined,” we could blow them out of the water.
I am working with the Office of Giving to set up monthly payments that can be sent directly from your own direct deposits, but for now we can use this link: https://secure.ancss.org/ and in the comment section leave this fund info:
Project # 1401998 Class of 1998: Gift Fund
Also, if you want to start to contributing to the expenses for our personal gatherings, you may also want to start doing small payments to this fund:
Project # 1580835 Class of 1998: Reunion Fund
I know; we all have bills, expenses, etc. It's also our Alma Mater. As someone who has spent the last ten years on the other side of the desk, I can tell you the endowment is not where it was two or even one decade ago.
I remembered that old infomercial for "set it and forget it" ovens. Our donations could work similarly--behind the scenes in small installments--and by many hands, we could achieve something to truly lord over the Class of '97... and do some good for ANC at the same time.
So here’s my pledge to you: Starting in October I am going to give $10 from each of my paychecks to the ANC Class of 1998: Gift Fund. That’s $20 a month. It doesn’t sound like much--I know, I’m not trying to break my bank. It’s two relatively cheap drinks at the bar a month I’ll forgo. I truly hope that others will join me in this pursuit. I encourage you to challenge, call out, praise, etc. each other in comments below.
I will give you monthly updates on how well the fund is doing.
I’m excited to see how much we can raise by next year. I’m even more excited to see what we can raise by 2028!
