The Straits Times Forum has published IFPAS’ letter, “Balanced discussion needed on retirement advice”.
Public discussions on CPF LIFE, ILPs, retirement planning and financial advice are important, especially when they concern consumer understanding, suitability and trust.
IFPAS supports clear, responsible and suitable financial advice. Where advice is unsuitable, unclear or misleading, such concerns should be taken seriously and addressed through the proper channels.
At the same time, public discussions should remain fair, balanced and constructive. Singapore’s financial advisory profession comprises practitioners across different advisory models and distribution channels, many of whom serve clients with professionalism, care and commitment.
Protecting consumers and upholding the integrity of the profession must go hand in hand.
IFPAS will continue to support professional development, financial literacy and constructive engagement with stakeholders to strengthen public trust and raise standards in financial advice.
