A quick heart health check in… how are you going?

Heart health often gets pushed to the bottom of the list, but small, everyday choices can make a big difference over time.
The good news?

Looking after your heart doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are some simple ways to support your heart:
🍎 Eat more of the good stuff: Fill your plate with vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and healthy fats (like nuts, seeds, and olive oil).
⛹️‍♂️ Move your body regularly: Even a brisk walk counts.
🙋‍♀️ Manage stress where you can: Your heart feels it too — take breaks, get outside, or check in with someone.
🩺 Stay on top of your health: Regular check-ups can identify risks early.

And finally, if you’re a UniMed Member, take advantage of preventative health benefits available to you: unimed.co.nz/preventative-health-and-screening

Last month, our UniMed team took on More Movement May. It's a fun wellbeing challenge designed to help us move more throughout the day.

Using a bingo-style card, our team members were encouraged to tick off small movement moments, from lunchtime walks and stretching breaks, to taking the stairs or joining in team squats.

When it comes to wellbeing, it’s the small things done consistently that make the biggest difference.

There was plenty of friendly competition too with prizes to be won. Most importantly, it was about building healthier habits together, and having a bit of fun along the way. How are you keeping your movement up in the colder months?

At UniMed, supporting wellbeing starts with our own people 💙

Last Friday our UniMed team was on-site at One Stadium for the Crusaders game with our spin-to-win prize wheel!

We had over 150 entries into the prize draws provided by our partners. Congratulations to our winners!

It was great to connect with so many Crusaders fans and share in the game day atmosphere. This activation was made possible through our partnership with the Crusaders. We are proud to be their exclusive health and wellness partner.

Through this partnership, we’re able to share insights from elite sport to help our Members achieve their own wellbeing goals.

Thanks to everyone who came by for a spin and a chat — we loved being part of your game day!

Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in Aotearoa which is why it’s great to see so many of our Members taking a proactive approach to their skin health. Through our Active Benefits service, SkinVision, checking your skin is quick and easy.

According to one happy Member; “The app is so simple to use and the results were incredibly fast. It gives me such great peace of mind regarding my skin health.” A testament to the value of taking control of health risks.

Too many New Zealanders put off gut health conversations because they feel awkward or uncomfortable.

New research commissioned by our partner The Gut Foundation has revealed a lethal ‘confidence gap’ in our national health, with just 17% of Kiwi’s feeling confident explaining why gut health matters.

This month, we are proud to support Gut Check, a nationwide campaign encouraging New Zealanders to know the signs, check their risk, and talk about gut health more openly.
