We are a Savings & Credit Co-operative Society registered in 2001 Our goal is to economically empower our members through affordable financial services that will enable them to address their financial needs as per our slogan “growing together,” Our Journey started in the year 2000 when the idea of starting UMOJA WENDANI SACCO was conceived by 11 members of P.C.E.A Umoja Parish Presbyterian Church
Men Fellowship (P.C.M.F) with an aim to offer access to credit for members to expand their business as well as improve their economic livelihood. In 2001 the Sacco was officially registered with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives under the Cooperative Societies Act No.12 of 1997, and governed by the Sacco Societies Act and the Sacco by-laws. By the year 2002, the membership opened to other P.C.E.A churches within the Nairobi East region. The benefits of years of savings were evident and the membership growth gained momentum. Members were encouraged to save regularly and to borrow wisely for their development projects. In 2005, the Sacco had its first AGM and members got the first opportunity to elect the board, pass resolutions and exercise their rights of membership. The year 2007 saw the Sacco employ the first employee who took over the vital role of the daily operations of the Sacco. With an office and staff in place, the Sacco had entered the highway of growth. Since then, the growth of Umoja Wendani Sacco has been high; a fact attributed to good governance, leadership, staff commitment and efficient patronage by members. Recently, the Sacco has transitioned to an open plan office at Imani Towers 4th floor. The Sacco has also increased the staff to fourteen, drafted & implemented policies for enhanced management, introduced an Interactive Voice Response [IVR] telephony system and an I.T. back-up system. The growth of Umoja Wendani Sacco has been exponential; and this has been attributed to good governance, great leadership, staff commitment and efficient patronage by members. Our epic journey continues…
