The Kenya National Police Deposit-Taking SACCO was established in 1972 under the Cooperative Societies Act (Cap 490) of the Laws of Kenya. From an initial membership of just 690 members, Kenya National Police DT SACCO now serves over 76,000 members across the country and the diaspora, with an asset base of over KES 66 Billion, member deposits of over KES 37 Billion and a loan portfolio of over KES

55 Billion. Since its inception, the SACCO has been dedicated to promoting a culture of saving and providing affordable credit facilities to its members. Initially the society drew all its membership from the National Police Service and SACCO employees, however, the society revised its by-laws and now extends services to everyone.

The official opening was graced by former Deputy Inspector General Mr. Edward Mbugua alongside KNPDTS National Chairman Mr. David Sohelo Mategwa, OGW, HSC, DSA, ICUDE, the Board of Directors, Starehe Sub-County Co-operative Officer Ms. Rose Mwithiga, management and staff.
