Blundell's School

Blundell's School Peter Blundell was one of the wealthiest merchants of Elizabethan, England and died in 1601.

Blundell’s is a dynamic independent school set in the Devon countryside, inspiring pupils to achieve their potential through academic excellence, co-curricular opportunity and strong pastoral care. In his will he left money and lands to help found a school in his home town in his hope to help maintain “sound learning and true religion.” Since its creation in 1604 Blundell’s continues to be a stron

g school both in terms of academics and sporting achievements and takes great honour in producing Old Boys and Girls that continue through life upholding Blundell’s values.

Huge congratulations to Molly in Year 10, who has been selected for the Team Bath Netball U15 squad.

Molly has already made a fantastic start, playing in the Curtain Raiser against Wales, where her team secured the win. She has also recently competed in an U17 PDP tournament in London, where the team came out on top despite being the only U15 side taking part.

This is a brilliant achievement and a reflection of Molly’s talent, commitment and hard work. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to following her progress with Team Bath.

Well done, Molly!

Thank you to everyone involved.

Huge congratulations to the Year 12 A-Level Drama pupils who performed their examination pieces last week to a supportive audience in Ondaatje.

Using a published playtext and the work of two theatre practitioners as inspiration, pupils devised and created their own original performances.

In Here But For the Grace of God, Wilbur, Anna and Isla explored the lives of two young girls whose futures are shaped by the circumstances they are born into.

Through imaginative use of physical theatre, multimedia and powerful storytelling, they created a moving and thought-provoking piece of theatre.

Heidi, Sophie, Antonia and Scarlet presented Light, an unsettling drama examining the tragic impact that the loss of natural light resources could have on a family.

Tense and compelling from start to finish, the performance highlighted the devastating consequences of a world deprived of its natural light sources.

It was wonderful to welcome Old Blundellian and former Head Girl Demelza Short back to the Blundell’s stand at the Royal Cornwall Show today, where she caught up with Director of Rugby, Tony Yapp.

What a year it has been for Demelza. At just 19, she made her Red Roses debut against Scotland at Murrayfield and has been part of an extraordinary period for England Rugby, with the Red Roses recently winning their fifth consecutive Six Nations Grand Slam and extending their remarkable unbeaten run.

Standing in front of her Blundell’s banner today, Demelza summed up the past year perfectly: “It’s been wild.”

We are so incredibly proud to see her continuing to flourish and inspiring the next generation of Blundellians.
