Running your own business has taught me one thing more than anything else…
It will never be perfect.

There will always be something on the to-do list, something that doesn't go to plan, or a day when you question whether you're doing any of it right.

But you can't wait for everything to be perfect before you make it happen.

You figure it out. You adapt. You keep going. And sometimes you just have to trust that you're doing better than you think you are.

It's not always easy, but I genuinely love what I do and the freedom it gives me to build a business around the life I want.

Perfect? Definitely not.

But I'm making it happen, and that's enough for me

Time for a little reminder about what I can do for you...

There's more to bookkeeping than simply keeping the numbers up to date.

One thing I've realised since working for myself is how important it is to appreciate the little moments.

A walk with the dogs.
A coffee in the sunshine.
Catching up with family.

Those moments help me recharge and remind me why I chose this path in the first place.

Running a business is important, but so is enjoying the life you're building around it.

Three years of Stanley Bookkeeping Services! 🎉

Three years ago, I took the leap and started my own bookkeeping business.

I honestly don't think I realised quite how much I'd learn along the way. About running a business, about clients, about managing my time, and probably most importantly, about myself.

There have been busy weeks, quiet weeks, things that haven't gone to plan and plenty of moments where I've wondered what on earth I was doing... but there have also been some brilliant clients, great relationships and the satisfaction of building something that's completely mine.

Three years on, I'm still here, still learning, still growing and still genuinely enjoying what I do.

And of course, I couldn't have done it without the clients who've trusted me with their books and supported my business along the way.

So here's to three years of Stanley Bookkeeping Services... and whatever the next three brings! 🥂

Supporting Longfield Community Hospice – and a great day out too! 🐾

This Sunday between 11am and 4pm we’re excited to be supporting our Charity Partner, Longfield Hospice with their community dog show.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job isn't balancing the books...
It's hearing a client say they finally feel on top of their finances.

Knowing that I've helped take away some of that stress is exactly why I love what I do.

Hello September. 🍂

How is it September already?

There's something about reaching September that makes me realise just how quickly this year is moving. Four months left of 2026, and suddenly the end of the year doesn't feel quite so far away.

It's a good time to pause and think about what you wanted to achieve this year.

Have you made progress?
Have your priorities changed?
Is there something you've been putting off that you'd still like to get done?

I'm a big believer in not waiting for January to make a change. Sometimes you just need to take a step back, refocus and decide what matters most.

For me, September feels like a little reset. A chance to get organised, refocus on my goals and make the most of the months ahead.

Four months is still plenty of time to make things happen.

This quote really resonates with me.

I’m naturally someone who likes to stay organised, plan ahead and make sure things are taken care of. But one thing I’ve learned, both personally and through running my own business, is that not everything is within our control.

There will always be things we can't change, situations we can't fix and people whose actions we can't influence.

Learning to let those things go rather than carrying them around in your head makes such a difference.

Focus on what you can control. Your choices, your attitude, your time and where you put your energy.

Sometimes protecting your peace is simply knowing what deserves your attention... and what doesn't.

I switch off by getting outside.
