Well to say it's been a strange month would be a understatement indeed!!
To start with our free junior angling sessions were booked out, with over 200 kids attending, which is fantastic, BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT GAVE THERE TIME TO HELP OUT ❤️.
Also to NASHTACKLE, REELEDIN, and SWIMBOOKER for there help and favors in running this event 💪 As most will know we had a massive lose of ducks at the res over the last 3 weeks, this seems to have passed now thankfully.🤞
On the fishing side it's been absolutely packed out recently, there's been some fantastic fish caught too, this includes 3 x 30lb+ carp, bream to 9lb and some fantastic tench too, there's also been quality rudd and roach caught too.
As many off you know Graham our head bailiff hasn't been to well recently, but the good news is his back home now and looking good.
I know everyone will want to see him back on the bank soon, so here's to a SPEEDY RECOVERY MATE 💪

It's absolutely unbelievable that so much w**d can wash down stream and block the inlet to the reservoir, just shows how low the rivers been !! Most of it had been ripped out by its roots due to the sudden surge of water in the river after the rain we had i suppose ? Anyway after 2 hours hard work its sorted., waters running through nicely now.. 💪

Well what a month this has been, in the 14 years that I have run the res I've never had so many anglers fishing, it looks like we now have at least 3 or 4 carp between 31lb and 34lb ? wow that is unbelievable for a mixed fishery park lake... we also have tench to 10lb, Bream to 14lb, Crucians to 3lb 8oz.. chub, pike, and good size Rudd and Roach, opps I forgot to mention 3lb perch and large Gudgen too. The 30lb plus fish are common carp, mirror carp and Ghosties. Here's a few pictures that have been sent in recently.
On the sad side we have recently lost quite a few ducks to a strain of botulism that affects them during long hot spells of weather, some of you might have seen posts on local FB pages saying its down to low water levels, stagnant water, ect at the reservoir? This is utter nonsense we have a oxygenation pump going, high water levels and high oxygen levels.. if you see a duck in distress and you can remove it from the water can you just put it somewhere in the shade and report it to myself or one of the bailiffs and we will deal with it.

Well this was a really hard day for fishing with whips ect, the high winds didn't help at all !!
The fish were few and far between to say the least, for those that bothered to turn up 😠 .
Unfortunately we had around 17 people who booked in but didn't bother to contact us to say they weren't attending, unfortunately it was to late to invite others that had tried to book on but were told it was fully booked, next year will be different, all sessions when booked will have to pay a £10 returnable deposit per child per session, and 48hrs notice must be given for cancellations, all money raised will go towards buying new equipment ect. I've always run this as a totally free experience for the kids, but unfortunately this is how it's got to be from next year...
Session (2) BIRKETT HALL 12th August.
Now this one was completely the opposite, we only had 3 no shows but luckily someone turned up on the wrong date and filled the spaces, we also let a couple stay from the morning session. So in total we had 43 places taken.
As you can see by the pictures plenty of fish were caught and everyone had a great time.
Thanks to everyone that's turned up over the last 2 sessions to help, you know ow who you are 👏

Well it's been a strange week, while lots of lakes in the area have suffered from low water and oxygen levels the res has remained ok.
Adam whiteside had a session carp fishing with his dad but unfortunately there were no runs, a quick change over to float fishing and within 2 minutes he had a bite, after a great battle with the fish he landed this stunning 29lb 2oz common.... just goes to show, change your tactics and change your luck!!
Jon one of our senior Members had 22 carp out in a single day session, all the fish fell to ledger tactics and all went into double figures.
There's also been loads of other fish banked including 10lb bream and tench to 7lb.
